Passport validity of at least 6 months beyond the stay is recommended. One blank passport page per stamp is required. A tourist visa is not required for stays less than 90 days within a six-month period. No vaccinations are required. There are currency restrictions of 10,000 Euros or equivalent for both entry and exit. If planning to stay in Latvia for more than 90 days, a temporary residence permit must be applied for, along with a criminal records check from the United States. Proof of funds and a return plane ticket are required. Random passport checks are possible when traveling to neighboring Baltic countries from Latvia. Familiarity with the requirements of the Schengen Agreement is necessary when traveling through European countries. HIV/AIDS entry restrictions are not known for visitors to or foreign residents of Latvia.
