Passport validity of at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area is recommended. Two blank passport pages are required for entry stamp. Tourist visa is not required for stays under 90 days. No vaccinations are required. Currency restrictions for entry and exit are 10,000 Euros or equivalent. There are no COVID-related entry requirements for U.S. citizens. For traveling through Europe, familiarity with the requirements of the Schengen Agreement is necessary. Proof of sufficient funds and a return plane ticket are required. Non-EU visitors must obtain a stamp in their passport upon initial entry into a Schengen country. Failure to complete a declaration of presence within eight calendar days of arrival is punishable by expulsion from Italy. There are no HIV/AIDS entry restrictions for visitors to or foreign residents of Italy.
