Entry is not allowed without prior visa

To enter and exit India, all U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a valid Indian visa or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. Travelers without proper documentation may be denied entry. U.S. citizens visiting India for less than 60 days can apply for an eVisa, while those staying longer or for other purposes must apply for a visa from an Indian embassy or consulate.
